Lunch Date

The first week is down. Today I had lunch with my girls. It was great to see them happy and leading me around the cafeteria. It makes that inside sad face feel a bit better. I have really missed my girls this week. I have been counting down their growth for years. There is no prepping the day it comes and the house is quiet...for hours. I hope the moms with babies I've been staring at all week don't think I'm some psycho. Nope, just a regular mom wondering why my babies had to grow so fast.
Looking forward to lots of quality time this long holiday weekend!

My Babies are Grown

Today was the first day of Kindergarten for my baby girl - my baby, baby girl. So much anxiety lead up to this day. Like I thought my emotions surfaced as soon as I buckled my seatbelt to take them to the drop-off. I didn't want my tears to be get in the way of the happiness for her. So I swallowed and showed my big girl face. It was such a sweet moment, seeing my girls walk into school together hand-in-hand. It's a memory that will be in my mind forever. 

The day was a huge success. They were both so full of smiles and stories from the day at pick up this afternoon. Happy day.

Last Day of Break

We made every second count these past few days. What a fantastic summer. Looking forward to the new chapter and adventures beginning bright and early tomorrow morning for our smart, funny, talented, extraordinary daughters!! We love you so much!

Meet the Teacher Day

Welp, my time is almost up! Today was meet the teachers day at school. It was too chaotic for me to make a fool of myself... But I felt the lump in my throat when I realized we only have two more days of summer and my baby officially becomes big.
Sydney is at a sleepover tonight, so Cheekers and I are going to chill. We went and got a smoothie then had dinner. Now it's in for the night to watch a movie.
Here is Natry and her teacher - same as Sydney's. It should be a great adventure!

Meet Fiona

Getting a new dog and finding out the girls' teachers for this year all in one day made for one busy day....yesterday. Yes, yesterday marked the day our family brought home a new dog.... Meet Fiona! Fiona warmed our hearts at the Humane Society. After months (years?) of debating whether our household was ready for a dog, we figured - sure, why not now. 

Fiona is amazing. She's a basenji mix. She's two years old. She's already housebroken. And she's got the sweetest little face. Only one true challenge remains - getting our two cats to feel as fond for her. Hopefully in time there will be some new friendships formed. 

Meanwhile I'm discovering the pros and cons of a dog. Lots of pros - good company, loyalty, entertainment. Con - dog owners are weird! I've already received more criticism and feedback on how to handle my dog in 24 hours than I have received my whole almost eight years of being a mother. It was easier for me to walk out of the hospital with a newborn than the humane society with a dog. Dog owners have too many opinions.

I'm hoping Fiona remains potty-trained, doesn't bark too much, doesn't jump on my guests and comes when I call her. If I can achieve that, I'll be proud of my dog-mommy skills. 

So - we shall see......

Horse Lessons

We signed the girls up for a couple horse lessons. Assuming it would just be a ride around on a horse, it was so much more. The girls learned the whole process from taking the horses out of their stalls, brushing them clean, cleaning their hooves, putting on their saddles, walking them to the riding area, getting on the horse, turning the horse, stopping the horse, kicking the horse to go. Sydney even practiced riding backwards. Sydney's horse today was named Amber. Cheekers was on Mow Mow (as in Giddy Up a Ooom Papa Ooom Papa Mow Mow :). While Mow Mow was a bit slow, he proved to be a good first riding horse.
