(This blog is being brought to you by the Wi-Fi connection from the caffeine joint down the street.)
Our household has been without cable, phone and the Internet since Friday night when the latest summer storm rolled through town. We've now spent four evenings in June in the basement...and plenty of other evenings watching the boob tube wondering if we'd be heading to the basement soon. So you'd think by now I would have stashed some entertainment for my toddler down there! But when these storms end, we're just grateful to get out of the basement.
This has been the craziest weather month I have ever witnessed...and scariest! Now every time it thunders or lightnings, my daughter says, "do we have to go to the basement?" And let me tell you, there is no finer Mommy patience and composure test than trying to keep it all together with two crying kids inside and the sounds of whipping winds, crashing branches and beating sounds of hail outside. I don't like storms to begin with, so to act like it's all cool, Mommy's gotta bring out the big game face!
Tomorrow is July 1. Here's hoping that this June storm madness comes to a close!
