Greetings! Welcome to my blog. I am Melissa. I’m 34 and the mother of two girls (a 3 1/2 year old and a 1 1/2 year old). I am also a wife, a care giver to my three cats (Eddy, Digit and Clarisse), a photographer (just for fun), a party planner (well, pre-kids), a experimental chef (ummm, cook), a house cleaner (umm straighten’er), an organizer, a lister (one who obsesses with making lists), a lefty, a painter (Home Depot style, not Monet), a Mid-westerner, an actor wannabe, a travel lover, a magazine reader and a day-dreamer.
These are a few of my favorite things… Diet Coke, Doritos, celebrity gossip, The Office, New York City, the color yellow, reading Real Simple magazine, squirrels, The Far Side, being surprised, an organized house (it’s a work in progress), Target, watching tennis, a good laugh, my birthday and Reese’s Peanut Butter cups (though I prefer the Reese’s Egg at Easter best).
I detest clutter, clowns, hair in the sink, being sticky and the smell of burnt popcorn.
I decided to start this blog after wasting a lot of time trying to figure out why I should start a blog. I have a degree in creative writing and have done practically nothing with it. I’ve been in the corporate cube for too long and needed a place to break free.
At the moment my writing influences are my daughters. Beyond being a mom, I love the other roles they allow me to play – teacher, playmate, caregiver, guide. It’s an opportunity I wish I’d started earlier (but timing is everything).
My wish for this new outlet is that each day my ideas, inspirations and creations continue to flourish. I hope you’ll join me and comment along the way.
Cheers!
