A Nice Day for the Park

I am still savoring these final few days of winter break with my girls. It has gone by super fast!! So far, none of our time has been wasted. We've been taking in fun with friends, lunches with Daddio, activities, homework (Sydney has become a reading maniac over this break) and lots of pictures.

Today was a really pretty day - probably in the mid-60s and sunny. We decided to go to the park this afternoon. This is an activity we used to do a lot. But, I'm not sure why, we don't go as much as we used to. The girls had a lot of fun and even made some new friends. I used to the time to play around with taking pictures on my phone. The Box Truck

Just wanted to share a story how Christmas is still ringing in my girls' ears (or one girl anyway). This morning was trash day. Ever notice how the sound of the trash truck and the sound of the UPS truck sound kind of similar when they pull up to your house? Well my Cheekers noticed it. 

This morning when the trash truck rolled by she said, "Mommy, it's the box truck!" At first it took me a minute to understand what she meant. Then I realized, we had so many boxes/packages/presents delivered to our house this year. Anytime the sound of that truck rolled by, POOF, a new box showed up. 

Much to Cheekers' chagrin, it was not a truck delivering a box today. Ironically it was a truck taking away the oodles and oodles of broken down boxes and cardboard we all opened up over the past week. 

Maybe my girl will hear the sweet sound of the "box truck" when it's her birthday in just a few short weeks?!

Pick Yourself Up, Dust Yourself Off...

And start all over again. That's the way the song goes anyway. But what is it about learning to ride a bike that is so uncomfortable and terrifying? Even after knowing how to ride a bike for over thirty years, I'm still a bit of a wimp when it comes to confidence on two wheels. 

And now it's time for our girls to experience the two-wheeled milestone of life. 

We got a pretty day out there today, so it was time to give those gifts from Santa a whirl. Wouldn't you know it, Sydney liked Natalie's bike and Natalie likes Sydney's bike - figures. And Sydney is going to need some confidence boosting to get on her two wheels. And it's undetermined how long it will take Natalie to ride - but she's demonstating right out of the gate a strong motivation to get there quickly. 

Christmas Morning

I have to say this has been my favorite Christmas's so far with the girls. They are really aware and really into the whole Christmas thing this year - the whole kid excitement sha-bang. This morning it was so fun to hear pitter-patter down the hallway and a jump onto our bed and the words, "it's present time!" 

The girls took about a total of twelve minutes to rip through the remaining gifts they had. But so far, they are providing many more minutes worth of entertainment. 

We don't have much on the agenda today. That is the sad part about no family around. We did our hour of family stuff this morning, then the rest of the day is just hanging out - but no where to go and no one to be with. But the four of us are spending a nice quality day together regardless.

Royalty For Dinner

It's slumber party night - and only those in crowns are allowed at the dinner table. The menu - spaghetti, califlower, apple slices and chocolate milk - dessert of sugar cookies to follow.... a very royal dinner, if you ask me. 

And I Want This.....

Sydney had a playdate today - and Natalie did not. :( Poor Cheekers isn't quite old enough for those big girl events yet. So in order to make sure all girls had something fun to do today, I let Natty pick her fun activity. And she chose to go visit Santa. 

So we, along wtih half the city of Austin, stood in line to visit the man in the red suit. Luckily Natalie didn't freeze or cry when she evetually reached his lap. I was busy snapping photos, so I'm not sure exactly what she asked for. But I do know that she kept talking and talking and talking. Finally Santa put out his white glove for a high five - to wrap things up. 

The only report I got from the experience is that Santa wants chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk. Sounds good to me!
