Well, the lights are up....but the chore is still unfinished. I spent way too much valuable time yesterday trying to connect some lights in my bushes that would not connect. The plug from one strand would not fit into the next strand of lights. After tearing the house apart, convinced my Hubby (the tool king) had some type of outlet connector/adapter thingy that would solve my problem, I ended up at the hardware store; only to find out at the hardware store, no connector like I need exists.
So I threw in the towel at dusk last night. I started fresh today. I took all the lights off both bushes. I went to Target and bought 350 more lights to make up for the non-connecting ones. And before stringing my new batch, I connected each and every one of those stupid lights to one another to make sure they worked....they did.
But the light gods are against me this year. After spending an hour, untangling, getting bush prickles in my legs and arms and even winding some lights up and around a tree this year - at "go time," I discovered three strands are not working - UH! So there are presently three dark gaps out in my front yard bushes. I say, good enough!
The best part about my day was seeing the glitter (and snow) twinkle in my Cheekers' eyes when I pulled out my snow-globe collection. I try to emphasize year after year that my snow-globe collection doesn't mean I'm "one of those"....you know like one that collects unicorns or something (not that there's anything wrong with that!) The globes are quite lovely and put me in a very chipper holiday mood.
And then within a flash of that holiday mood, I realized, oh crap, I need to start some shopping!
So, there you go! Most of the decorations are up. Next up - a holiday out of town event. Then it's tree time and shop time! Tomorrow is December.....and like clock work the same frenzy holiday feelings surface again.
