Mermaids Love Cookies

Natalie (aka Cheekers) and I really broke in the kitchen today. We made cookies! We are having dinner at some friends' house tonight. I said, "what can I bring?" Dessert was the request. It's been months since I made cookies. And this first time back was even better because I had my "kitchen helper". Through the kitchen remodel, Natty has been referring to herself as the "kitchen helper". I think that's a fair description. She is very interested in kitchen stuff - playing pretend kitchen, wearing aprons, pretending to take our restaurant order. So, I like a kitchen helper (and particularly a kitchen cleaner :)

Here are the ingredients I used below to make chocolate chocolate chip cookies - and they are SO good. Add and mix together as you would another other cookie recipe.

2 1/4 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 sticks butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs, beaten

1 tablespoon vanilla

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

2 cups chocolate chips (I used Ghiradelli 60% cacao chips)
