Cheekers 3.5

Today Cheekers is 3.5. We didn't get to do anything kid related today - but we did take a road trip. The girls and I drove down to San Antonio to buy a new stove! Just the kind of event every three year old dreams of....actually, it was kind of fun. We sang Beatles songs and told stories. The girls got a Big Red soda at that store. And for the birthday girl's treat today - a specifically designed plate of pink M&Ms. Perfect!

Dinner Creativity

Well, I'm not sure if this is creative or desperate or what - but we're tired of sandwiches. So tonight it's fish made in the dirty corner of our living room in the toaster oven - served on paper plates with a side of ketchup. Don't be jealous!

 

Kitchen Remodeling Surprises

The girls and I are back and acclimating to our construction filled house. The good news is we have a refrigerator. So we're not necessarily roughing it as far as it goes for food. We don't have anthing to cook on, though - but it's summer - who wants hot food.

One little thing I didn't quite expect from our project - at least to this severity - is the amount of dust. I was warned by many how dusty a big project like this can be - but whoa!

Today our drywallers were here. They made great progress - and it's easier each day to get a visual of what it's all going to look like.

But like I said, DUST! If any of you have spare dust rags and Pledge laying around your house, send them my way! I'm going to be spending a week solid putting my things back in order after wiping them down.

Just take a look! But it's gonna be worth it (so I keep telling myself)!

 

Goin Home

Our final morning has arrived on our very fast two week visit. We're ready to go home and see Daddio today. It's been a very fun and very filled two weeks. The girls are showing signs of the end of a trip. Their amount of time between well rested behavior is getting less and less by the day. Having activities day and night and no rest and late nights will do that to a kid (and an adult).

We're just going to hang out this morning and squeeze in a bit more family time.

Ironically the heat wave here is supposed to lift just about the time we board the plane - figures. :)

T Minus 3

The girls began counting down their days to Daddio now. In three days we'll be back home! Before we began our trip to IL, we came up with a list of things we wanted to do during our trip. Now with three days left, I hope we can get it all in. We've done a lot! of stuff and have been busy every day - but just like everything, the time has flied. That's good, though, because we've missing Daddio and ready to head home.

Many things await us at home - a torn up, but highly different looking kitchen, three cute kitty cats, a mermaid camp, our friends and a few more weeks of summer vacation until the school year begins!

Being in Illinois has been so nice for the girls (and me). They've had a ball visiting family, having non-stop entertaining activities - swimming, sprinklers, Chicago, ice cream, shopping, puppies, making new friends, etc....  

So with just three days left, we're going to try and keep the days as action packed as we can and make the most of hot summer days in the north.

Girls in the City

Just back from Chicago. My girls and I joined my girlfriend and her two daughters for a day and overnght in the big city. We had a lot of fun - and are now mighty tired as a result. Here were just a few things we did: American Girl store, Disney Store, Rainforest Cafe, Garrett's popcorn, Navy Pier, pennies in the hotel fountain, carousel ride, gelato, walking, walking and more walking - all in the hot summer Chicago sunshine, painted nails, Barbies, lipgloss, gin and tonics (adults only) and lots of fun laughs. I hope we can make it a tradition. Here are a few photos!
