The girls and I made it out to a pumpkin patch today. I love this time of year. But down here in the south, the feeling of fall is a little delayed. It was a fall-like 85 degrees today (ha), but we made the most of it. We tried a new pumpkin patch this year. The place is actually a Christmas tree farm that also does pumpkins. It wasn't quite as fall festive as the place we checked out last year - it worked though. We did a hay ride, swings, pumpkin decorating and picked out some pumpkins for our porch.
The girls are sporting their super cute Halloween tutus created by my super awesome creative friend! The girls were excited to wear the tutus and got a ton of compliments on their black and orange attire. :)
Sydney woke up this morning and first thing she said, "Mommy, thank you making such a great party for me yesterday.".
That made my last minute trip to the party store to buy more blue sea streamer TOTALLY worth it. :)
Well the birthday may be over, but the party still continues. Sydney's big birthday party is this weekend, and Mommy has been in party planning mode all week. I swore I would hold the next party at a venue other than our home.... But here I am again frantically putting together party sacks, planning a menu, checking the weather by the minute to make sure I can toss kids outside and creating my timeline for the festivities.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to plan parties. It's fun. I like the busy work. I like to buzz around here with colorful things to put together. I'm just not quite as eager this year to wear my party planning cape.
Our theme this year is "Under the Sea". I've either been living a life with princesses this year or mermaids. Merliah, the Barbie mermaid has been a favorite since the spring. I was able to score a Merliah costume from Costco - and poof, we had our theme.
So Saturday we'll be dining on goldfish, fish sticks, shrimp (the birthday girl's favorite), blue Jello with Swedish Fish and blue Gatorade. The kitchen will be covered in blue streamers and the tables covered in sea shells. I'm still debating a mermaid pinata. And I can't wait for the strawberry filled mermaid birthday cake!
I plan to post some good pictures of the party girls. Hopefully it turns out to be a splash!
Look closely at the photo below. It appears to be one of two sweet, kind, innocent princesses.... But look closer, you can then see a little red in their eyes and smoke coming from their ears. They have you fooled.
These princesses of mine recently received this new attire...and some how, it has created royal demands to go along with it. They've been fighting over who gets to sing what song, who gets to wear the pretend earrings and who gets to hold the wand next.
I tell ya...Mommy the Queen of All is about to cast a magic spell and turn the clocks to midnight if she doesn't get some kindness and cooperation...and soon.
